Cookie Policy

Who we are

This website is operated by FundingXperts Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 13384238. This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we do with your information.

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies can be “session” cookies, which expire when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

We keep this deliberately narrow. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not allow social media or visitor-identification companies to monitor your visit here. Analytics is the only optional thing this site actually sets.

The cookies we use

  • NECESSARY COOKIES. These are essential for the site to function and to respect the choices you make, so they are set without asking. They do not contain information that directly identifies you and are not shared with third parties.
  • PERFORMANCE AND ANALYTICS COOKIES. These help us understand how visitors use the site, by reporting things like how many people visit, which pages they read, how long they stay and roughly which country they are in. We use Google Analytics for this. These cookies are only set if you allow analytics on our cookie banner, either by accepting all or by switching analytics on under Customise. If you reject, or if you ignore the banner, they are never set and nothing is sent to Google.

Cookie register

Every cookie this site can set, what it does and how long it lasts.

Cookie Provider Purpose Expires Category
fx_consent FundingXperts (this website) Remembers the choice you make on our cookie banner, so we do not ask you again on every page. About six months Necessary
_ga Google Tells one visitor apart from another, so we can count visitors rather than visits. About two years Analytics
_ga_1T3YMFRDW6 Google Keeps track of a single visit to the site. About two years Analytics
wordpress_logged_in_ and related FundingXperts (this website) Keeps a member of our staff signed in. These are never set for ordinary visitors. Until the browser is closed, or about two weeks if “remember me” is used Necessary

Google occasionally changes the cookies its analytics product uses. Google publishes the current list at support.google.com/analytics/answer/11593727

The cookies we do not use

  • MARKETING COOKIES. We do not serve targeted advertising, we do not build a profile of your interests, and we do not track your activity across other websites. This category appears in our preferences panel so you can set your answer in advance, but nothing currently uses it.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA COOKIES. We do not embed content from social platforms and we do not use their tracking pixels. The links to our social pages at the bottom of each page are ordinary links and set nothing unless you follow them. This category also appears in the panel, and also does nothing at present.
  • FUNCTIONAL COOKIES. We do not set cookies to greet you by name, remember preferences or personalise content.
  • SESSION RECORDING AND HEATMAPS. We do not record your screen, your mouse movements or your keystrokes.

Marketing and Social Media are listed in the preferences panel deliberately, even though they are empty. If we ever do add something in one of those categories, it can only run if you have already allowed it. There is no version of this where something new starts quietly and you find out afterwards.

Why we use analytics

We use this information to understand how visitors use the website and which pages are useful, so that we can improve the site. We are looking at patterns across all visitors, not at what any one person does.

The information is processed by Google on our behalf, and Google processes it outside the UK. You can read how Google handles it in the Google Privacy Policy. Our own Privacy Policy explains what an international transfer means for your rights.

Content loaded from other services

Nothing on this site is loaded from another company’s servers. Our typefaces, images, stylesheets and scripts are all served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact anyone else while you read these pages.

The single exception is Google Analytics, and only after you have accepted it.

Your choice, and changing your mind

You decide whether to accept analytics cookies. The first time you visit, a banner appears with three options: Accept all, Reject all, or Customise. All three are equally easy to reach, and nothing about the site stops working if you reject.

Customise opens a panel with four categories: Necessary, shown as always on with an explanation of why; Analytics, with a switch; and Marketing and Social Media, which have switches but which we do not currently use at all. Setting those two now means that if we ever do add something, your answer is already recorded and applies from the start.

If we add a purpose that does not fit any of these four, it will appear in the panel as a new category and we will ask you again rather than assuming your previous answer covers it.

To change your mind later, select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. That opens the same panel.

If you reject after previously accepting, we also delete the Google Analytics cookies already stored on your device.

Most browsers also let you refuse or delete cookies through their own settings. If you block all cookies, including the necessary ones, parts of this site may not work properly.

Questions and complaints

If you have a question about cookies, or about how we handle your information generally, please contact us using the details on our Contact page, or read our Privacy Policy.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would rather you came to us first, so that we have the chance to put it right.
